2. You can find your ideal climate

No matter when you are planning to travel, whether it be to coincide with high summer or a winter post-wedding retreat, Australia has a wealth of options to choose from to suit any season and pair it with the style of getaway you want. A bonus of travelling from the Northern hemisphere to the south means that the seasons are opposite to the UK, Europe and USA so you could experience a cooler July or summer Christmas if you wish!

Travelling in Summer (December-February)? This is an ideal time to visit Tasmania when the weather is dry, calendars are full of festivals and hiking trails beckon avid walkers. 

Travelling in Autumn (March-May)? Western Australia is a wonderful choice, particularly along the Coral Coast where you can swim with Whale Sharks at this time of year and catch sightings of Orca at Bremer Bay. 

Travelling in Winter (June-August)? The perfect time to visit Queensland since it is still warm but less humid and you are outside of ‘stinger season' (dangerous jellyfish swarms) making visits to the Great Barrier Reef hassle-free. 

Travelling in Spring (September- November)? The Red Centre is great at this time of year to avoid the scorching heat of summer and enjoy epic sunsets.

3. It is a beach and ocean lovers paradise

Of course, when you picture Australia you often think of bright blue ocean waters alongside sandy beaches and you would be right. Much of the country is a beach bum's paradise, from the multicoloured coral and sea-life of the Great Barrier Reef to the perfect surf breaks of Noosa in Queensland or Torquay in Victoria, you can paddle, dive and soak in the sunshine in a multitude of destinations.

Head out on the Great Ocean Road, which spans across the southern edges of Victoria and South Australia, to catch the waves of Surf Coast and tread the trails of some epic seaside hiking routes.
