This small and laidback Coral Coast resort lies close to the town of Sigatoka (famous for the Sigatoka Sand Dunes and surrounding nature hikes). 4. The Naviti Resort

This comfortable three-star resort hotel is conveniently located close to Nadi International Airport so the perfect stop upon arrival or departure before jetting off to other islands or simply as a destination in itself offering access to all the sights on Viti Levu. The tropical grounds reveal a loop pool complete with a water slide for the kids and offer plenty of privacy for the range of villas and suites dotted around the complex. 8. Radisson Blu Fiji Resort Denarau Island

Sit back in ten acres of lush green gardens and listen to the peaceful sounds of the waterfalls and ocean waves coming from the private beach. Bliss. 

The Radisson Blu Fiji is located on the popular resort island of Denarau on the west coast of Viti Leu and is a quick 15 minutes from Nadi International Airport using the hotel’s private transfer service.

The location is top-notch, adjacent to Port Denarau Marina and a simply 20-minute drive from Nadi Airport so perfect for those wanting access to the resort life and facilities but not necessarily locked into all the inclusions.

The apartments range from simple but chic studio hotel rooms to larger 1-3 bedroom apartments complete with kitchenettes for those wishing to self-cater. 10. Anchorage Beach Resort - Vuda Point

Heading north from Nadi, 30 minutes up the west coast leads you to the hillside boutique resort of Anchorage Beach - a more off the beaten track Fijian paradise. The resort celebrates its colonial past with grand plantation-style buildings interspersed with Fijian beach cottages and offers true South Pacific hospitality - many of the staff are descendants of the original village settlers - 

The resort is perfect for families and independent visitors: island or oceanview Bures offer a king bed plus two singles, Family Bures can sleep up to seven guests and Tadra Beach Bures come complete with a four-poster king bed and a couple of daybeds. The owners made the bold decision to encourage disconnection from mod-cons with no TVs, radios or internet so that guests take the time to truly relax.

Toberua:

Heading east from Suva and the shores of Viti Levu you will find the island resort of Toberua, adorned by thatched-roof bungalows and idyllic private island vibes. 

15. Toberua Island Resort

For a simple and intimate island getaway, you cannot get much better than the privately owned island of Toberua - complete with only 16 traditional Bures nestled amid four acres of golden sandy beaches and lush tropical forests. The choices of accommodation include premium, deluxe or tropical oceanfront Bures or a three-bedroom villa which is ideal for families or groups. Want to go with an even bigger group? The whole island can be hired out for 36 guests so is perfect for that destination wedding or celebration. 

Try your hand at basket-weaving, golf can be played at low tide, the fishing and sailing are superb, and the snorkelling and scuba diving are fantastic (we particularly recommend taking up the night-time snorkelling option with a local guide - an unforgettable experience). Be as active or lazy as you want during your stay and you will leave refreshed and recharged and full of great food. Meal plans or à la carte dining are available with options to upgrade to a gourmet plan which includes a daily changing menu for breakfast, a 3-course lunch and a 4-course dinner.

Yasawa Islands:

Picture white sand beaches, azure waters and volcanic island landscapes that pop out of the pacific ocean like bubbles of tropical paradise - that is the Yasawa Islands. Found north-west of Fiji’s mainland the island group can be reached by ferry, charter boat, cruise or even helicopter. 

16. Octopus Resort

Located on Waya Island, one of the landmasses that join the southern tip of the Yasawas, Octopus Resort sits proudly on the shores welcoming visitors to these gorgeous Fijian islands.

The range of accommodations from budget to premium caters for a diverse mix of visitors who travel to these more remote locales along with an included meal plan and incredibly hospitable staff and local villagers. The journey from Vuda Point on the mainland to these sublime beaches and mountains takes around 1.5 hours by boat and the extra travel is very much worth it - even just for the incredible sunsets that you can experience from the western facing resort. 

Along with sun loungers by the resort pool, a selection of day-spa treatments and palm-shaded beaches you can expect to enjoy some awesome hiking trails into the volcanic mountains around the resort giving way to some spectacular views out to the ocean and neighbouring islands - it is definitely worth the extra effort to climb these hills! 

Daily yoga classes and a PADI Dive centre cater for the active travellers and if you visit between May and October you can join the daily pilgrimage to swim with the local Manta Rays.

Why do we love it? Not just an amazing location for diving but also for hiking in the surrounding volcanic hills. 

17. Paradise Cove 

Quietly perched in a secret cove on the smaller Yasawa island of Naukacuvu, Paradise Cove is the kind of place you only hear about in novels. It is a resort for those wanting to leave the world behind and unwind their body and mind. Crystal clear water laps at the shimmering sandy beaches just a few steps away from private villas of varying sizes that stay cool with high thatched ceilings and airy interiors. Vanua Levu:

The second-largest island in Fiji, Vanua Levu, lies 64km north of Viti Levu and the more remote location makes it much less visited and therefore a joy to get off the beaten track and explore the varied landscapes of sugarcane fields, pine forests, lush rainforests and coconut plantations.

18. Koro Sun Resort

Koro Sun Resort & Rainforest Spa covers 160-acres near the picturesque sailing village of Savusavu and the remote setting could be the dictionary definition of paradise.
