January is the perfect time to rise early and make the most of your day before the hot weather settles in. One of the best things you can experience is a spectacular view of the Red Centre from up high in a hot air balloon. One of the biggest draw cards of the region is the incredible landscape surrounding it. A hot air balloon offers up an unbeatable vantage point, combined with an unmissable experience that you won’t forget anytime soon.

The Alice Springs Region is well known for its incredible art culture. When the weather warms up during the day in January, you can beat the heat inside one of the amazing local art galleries that showcase some of Australia’s best Indigenous art pieces. You can simply enjoy a day trip to Uluru in January, heading off around lunchtime and arriving in the early evening when the mild weather has set in allowing you to enjoy one of the many famous walks around the base of this sacred space.

You can even enjoy dinner under the stars with the Sounds of Silence experience across four incredible hours. As the sun sets, you can listen to the sound of the didgeridoo and enjoy a guided tour of the night sky. 

Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre

Another great way to keep yourself out of the heat of the day in January is to pay a visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre where you can learn all about the history and services that have been provided by the flying doctors since 1920.

 

It’s open Monday to Saturday and offers tours every half an hour, with the money going back into the organisation to help it maintain its services to the outback communities.
