Cairns to Daintree - Cape Tribulation
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive along the iconic Great Barrier Reef Drive, heading north towards the Daintree Rainforest. Daintree to Atherton Tablelands
After an early breakfast, we set off for an exciting day, beginning at Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. This stunning valley, resembling a giant amphitheater, is framed by Mt. Sorrow and Mt. Hemmant. The area's unique climate, characterized by high temperatures and humidity, supports lush tropical vegetation and scenic landscapes. Lunch will be at Beechwoods Café in Mossman before we visit the magnificent Curtain Fig Tree, an ancient marvel surrounded by a vibrant ecosystem and rich birdlife. Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodges is nestled in 1,200 acres of Lake Eacham's tropical rainforest, catering to birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Dinner awaits at Yungaburra Hotel, followed by an optional night spotting adventure. Experience the diverse nocturnal wildlife of the Wet Tropics on a guided night walk, visiting two sites to appreciate the area’s unique nocturnal life, or return to the lodge early if you prefer.

Atherton Tablelands to Cairns
After breakfast in Malanda, we’ll visit the Malanda Conservation Park, home to the elusive Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo, which is often spotted in this protected forest. Malanda Falls provides a stunning photo opportunity, along with chances to see freshwater snapping turtles and grey-headed robins. Next, we head to Lake Barrine, a picturesque volcanic crater lake perfect for nature activities and wildlife observation. The area offers numerous walking trails to spot reptiles, birds, eels, and other endemic species. If available, we may enjoy a scenic cruise operated by the Lake Barrine Tea House. At 12:30 PM, we’ll have a lakeside lunch. Later, we’ll visit the Tolga Bat Hospital, an ecotourism site dedicated to bat conservation. This award-winning facility offers insights into bat rescue, habitat preservation, advocacy, and research, making it one of Australia's premier ecotourism experiences.
